Meet the team behind the Citysmart initiative.

Jim McKnoulty (Chairman)
Chairman, RPS Group

Known in the Brisbane business community for his passion for sustainability, Jim is Chairman of RPS Australia-East, a group of consultancies assisting industry and government to meet the challenges of growth management and climate change throughout Eastern Australia.  He is National President of Greening Australia, was founding President of The Australian Green Development Forum and is a member of the Queensland Premier’s Climate Change Council that is responsible for guiding initiatives in responding to Climate Change and Energy challenges facing Queensland.

David Askern (Company Secretary)
Chief Legal Counsel, Brisbane City Council

David is the Chief Legal Officer of Brisbane City Council and currently manages Council’s internal legal service provider, Brisbane City Legal Practice.  He has over 20 years’ experience in all aspects of the law, with specialties in drafting and interpretation of legislation affecting local government, commercial contracting and industrial relations, including enterprise bargaining, environmental and planning laws, local government procedures, property developments and town planning.

Nick Alford
Director, OD21 International

Nick brings to CitySmart over 30 years’ experience as a business consultant across a range of industries and sectors. With a background in the mining and exploration sectors, Nick founded The CEO Institute in Queensland and currently works as a business consultant to a range of organisations.

Dylan Byrne
Partner, BDO

A partner of one of Australia's largest accounting and advisory practices, Dylan heads up BDO's National Sustainability Advisory Group. He has 16 years of experience in public practice and is a CPA member.

Greg Evans
Chief Operating Officer, Brisbane City Council

Greg is a Certified Practising Accountant with over 25 years finance and treasury experience. His wealth of knowledge was gained through working in various industries including energy, airlines, mining, consumer products and banking. His past successes include previous roles as Chief Financial Officer and General Manager of Finance at Ergon Energy, and the Manager of Corporate Finance at Qantas Airways Limited. Greg is currently acting as Chief Operating Officer and manages the Corporate Services division.

Nick Ferrett
Barrister, Chambers 33

Nick has over 10 years’ experience as a Barrister-at-law, specialising in corporate and commercial law. Prior to this role, he was a Project Officer with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission and was Policy Advisor to Hon. Bruce Davidson, Queensland Minister for Tourism, Small Business and Industry.

Colin Jensen
CEO, Brisbane City Council

Colin Jensen is the Chief Executive of Brisbane City Council, the largest local government in Australia. Prior to joining Council in August 2010, Colin had a successful career in the Queensland Government, most recently as the Coordinator-General and Director-General of the Department of Infrastructure and Planning.

Damian Morgan
Director, Morgan Productions

With over 15 years experience in the media and marketing, Damian currently works as the Managing Director for Morgan Productions.  With a background in freelance journalism and consultancy, Damian is also the Vice Chairman of the Royal National Association (RNA) Future Direction Committee and is an Advisory Panel Member of Green Cross Australia.

Sean Ryan
General Manager - Nova 106.9FM

Sean began his media career in television before moving into radio. Sean launched Brisbane’s successful Nova 106.9FM radio station in Brisbane in August 2004 and has been at the helm ever since. In addition to his role as  board member for CitySmart, Sean is on the board of Brisbane Marketing, Major Brisbane Festivals and The Mater Hospital Adolescent Drug and Alcohol Withdrawal Service.

Kathie Sadler
Special Counsel, Thomsons Lawyers

With a career that spans 20 years, Kathie’s legal expertise includes infrastructure law, administrative law compliance, governance and commercial transactions.  Prior to joining Thomsons Lawyers, Kathie spent seven years as a Senior Lawyer at QR where she obtained extensive experience in rail and road transport issues and major public sector projects.
