Neil HorrocksChief Executive Officer
Neil Horrocks comes to CitySmart with over 25 years of experience in the energy industry specialising in energy sustainability. Neil has held a number of executive roles across Queensland and Western Australia. Having most recently served as Major Projects Manager for Energex, Neil led Energex’ Demand Management activities across the corporate, commercial, industrial and small business sectors.
Troy McGrathBusiness Development and Partnerships Manager
Troy brings 20 years of experience in a variety of business development and executive roles in both the commercial and community sectors. He has worked in national not for profits, university organisations, media and government. His passion lies in taking a concept or idea and realising its potential into a new product, service or business opportunity.
Angela HeckMarketing & Communications Manager
Angela has over 15 years experience in marketing and communications across owned, earned and paid channels. She's worked for global conservation not-for-profits, financial services companies and on large customer loyalty programs. Angela devises and drives CitySmart's marketing and communication strategies across multiple programs including Live For Less. She's passionate about behaviour change and collaborating with the community and business partners to help our cities become resilient and maintain our great lifestyle.
Reid OssingtonCommercial Projects Manager
Reid brings over 20 years’ experience in Operations to CitySmart. He has held leadership roles in the Australian Defence Force and more recently was a Continuous Improvement Project Manager with machinery supply giant Hastings Deering Caterpillar. His project management credentials include a Diploma of Project Management, Lean Six Sigma Black Belt and he has a Graduate Diploma in Management, and he is a member of AICD and IML. Reid brings passion and energy to CitySmart’s commercial projects combined with the discipline and rigour of an experienced manager.
Lizzie WillmottEvents Manager
Having been with CitySmart for five years, Lizzie is CitySmart's longest standing team member. Throughout her time with CitySmart Lizzie has managed and executed the operations of Council's sustainability events program. Lizzie works on over 15 community engagement projects which engage over 60,000 Brisbane residents annually, including localised green events such as Revive Fashion Festival and the biannual Green Heart Sustainability Fair. Lizzie plays a vital role in the CitySmart team by interacting with the community to move towards a cleaner and greener Brisbane.
Rose MisraDigital Projects Manager
Rose has over eight years of project management and digital marketing experience in local, national and international markets. She has led digital transformation, mobile app development and data-driven projects within a range of not-for-profit and commercial organisations. Rose manages CitySmart’s Reduce Your Juice program, and leads the organisation’s digital capabilities. Her passion lies in delivering customer-first, innovative solutions that contribute to a smart, sustainable future.
Mike WatsonCommunications Advisor
Mike is a writer and marketing communications specialist with two decades of experience in branding, campaigns and content. He’s worked as a copywriter and creative for blue chip creative agencies including George Paterson Y&R, Publicis Mojo and the Nova Network. He has also run his own comms consultancy and has managed large, complex communications and publishing projects in the government and corporate spaces.He’s results-driven, sees the big picture and is equally happy wearing creative or corporate hats.
Jess BrainEvents Coordinator
Coming from a background in local government and not-for-profits, Jess has recently joined the CitySmart team and brings with her extensive experience in event management and community engagement. With a passion for creating positive change in the world, Jess helps coordinate the CitySmart events program to proactively promote and educate on sustainability for local businesses and communities. Jess is excited to be a part of the CitySmart team and contribute to a cleaner, greener future!
Bronte NorthProject Support Officer
Bronte brings to CitySmart extensive experience in the environmental, public, private, business, not-for-profit and health sectors. Her particular interest is in effective project and change management through innovative extension, engagement and empowerment. Project management, critical analysis and training development are the key qualities she brings to the table. With many years experience in professional services, she blends her business acumen with a genuine passion for leaving the world a better place for our children.
Emma IdeExecutive Assistant
With extensive experience supporting Executive Management within the Energy industry, Emma brings with her over 15 years’ combined experience in administration and finance. Emma is CitySmart’s newest recruit having just returned from taking time away from the workforce whilst raising her young family. Emma is excited to be on board the CitySmart Team working towards making Brisbane and Australia cleaner and greener.
Dylan ByrneActing Chairman & Partner, BDO
Dylan is the acting Chairman of CitySmart. A partner of one of Australia's largest accounting and advisory practices, Dylan heads up BDO's National Sustainability Advisory Group. He has 16 years of experience in public practice and is a CPA member.
Colin JensenChief Executive Officer, Brisbane City Council
Colin Jensen is the Chief Executive Officer of Brisbane City Council, the largest local government in Australia. Prior to joining Council in August 2010, Colin had a successful career in the Queensland Government, most recently as the Coordinator-General and Director-General of the Department of Infrastructure and Planning.
Bill LyonsDivisional Manager of Organisational Services, Brisbane City Council
Bills Lyons is Divisional Manager of Organisational Services at Brisbane City Council. Bill was previously CEO of Redland City Council where he oversaw a workforce of 900 staff, $2.6 billion in assets and a capital program of over $90m. His other previous roles include Executive General Manager positions with Energex and Telstra.
David AskernCompany Secretary
David is the Chief Legal Officer of Brisbane City Council and currently manages Council’s internal legal service provider, Brisbane City Legal Practice. He has over 20 years’ experience in all aspects of the law, with specialties in drafting and interpretation of legislation affecting local government, commercial contracting and industrial relations, including enterprise bargaining, environmental and planning laws, local government procedures, property developments and town planning.
Kathie SadlerSpecial Counsel, Thomsons Lawyers
With a career that spans 20 years, Kathie’s legal expertise includes infrastructure law, administrative law compliance, governance and commercial transactions. Prior to joining Thomsons Lawyers, Kathie spent seven years as a Senior Lawyer at QR where she obtained extensive experience in rail and road transport issues and major public sector projects.
Andrew GriffithsDean of UQ Business School
Andrew is the Dean of UQ Business School and holds the Chair in Business Sustainability and Strategy. His areas of research include business strategy and climate change, corporate sustainability strategy, and risk and crisis management. He has written four books on the topic of sustainability and has had his work published in leading international journals, including The Academy of Management Review and the Journal of Management Studies. Andrew has worked with leading national and international organisations in the profit and not-for-profit sectors to help them develop and implement climate change response and integrated sustainability strategies.
Monica BradleyNon-Executive Director & Advisor
Monica is a sought-after international director, adviser and investor who helps companies grow, adapt and flourish in today's digital economy. She currently serves as a Director of Purposeful Capital, a Non-Executive Director of Brisbane Marketing and B Lab Australia, and is a founding member of the PWC Chair in Digital Economy, QUT.
