CitySmart announces Neil Horrocks as Chief Executive Officer.
Lord Mayor, Cr Graham Quirk, announced the appointment of Neil Horrocks as Chief Executive Officer of CitySmart, Brisbane City Council’s sustainability agency, effective 3 August 2015.
Mr Horrocks replaces outgoing CEO, Megan Houghton, who announced her intention to stand down from the role earlier this year.
Cr Quirk thanked Ms Houghton for her strong leadership of CitySmart since 2009 and for overseeing a range of important programs and projects in her role as CEO.
“We thank Megan for her outstanding contribution to the CitySmart team over the past six years which has delivered $25 million in projects for Brisbane and $39 million in savings for local households and businesses,” Cr Quirk said.
“Mr Horrocks will bring significant industry and commercial experience to the role as well as a clear vision to support the next phase of growth for CitySmart.”
CitySmart Board Chairman, Tony Rees, said Mr Horrocks’ focus will be on CitySmart’s sustainable and environmentally friendly projects that deliver positive economic outcomes for Brisbane city.
“We look forward to welcoming Neil to the CitySmart team and working closely with him to continue delivering major benefits for Brisbane businesses and residents,” Mr Rees said.
Prior to his appointment as CEO, Mr Horrocks most recently served as Major Projects Manager for Energex and has held a number of senior positions in Queensland and Western Australia. Adding to his credentials in the sustainability sector, he previously worked as Project Manager of the pre-feasibility study for CitySmart’s $230m CBD Smart Energy Project.
